SFCC loses battle with nationally ranked St. Charles
Cottleville, Mo-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women’s soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 decision to fifth-ranked St. Charles Community College on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Cottleville, Mo-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's soccer team lost a hard-fought 2-1 decision to fifth-ranked St. Charles Community College on Saturday, Oct. 4.
St. Charles got on the scoreboard first in the opening half with a goal off a free kick. SFCC (6-5, 1-2 in Region 16) tied the match when sophomore forward Ella Smith drew a foul inside the box after a nice run. Smith scored on the ensuing penalty kick to tie the match.
The match remained tied at one at halftime. St. Charles scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal late in the second half to earn the victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Valeria Morales got the start in goal for SFCC.
The Lady Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with a game against Mineral Area College at Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
