Lady Roadrunners split two matches
Sedalia, Mo. – The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners’ soccer team made it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 victory over Kaskaskia College inside the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex on Monday Sept. 8 in Sedalia.

Sept. 8 Kaskaskia College at Sedalia
Sedalia, Mo. – The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners' soccer team made it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 victory over Kaskaskia College inside the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex on Monday Sept. 8 in Sedalia.
Sophomore forward Ella Smith put the Lady Roadrunners on the scoreboard with a goal with 30 minutes and 25 seconds remaining in the opening half. SFCC took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Smith added a second goal with about 34 minutes remaining in the contest. Kaskaskia trimmed the SFCC advantage to 2-1 with a goal with about 20 minutes remaining in the game. The SFCC defense made the plays down the stretch to seal the victory.
"I think our team is starting to get better," said associate head coach Roberto Tucker. "I try to make our players understand the importance of transition in the game. We haven't allowed any team to score more than two goals against us so far this season. Our defenders are working very hard. We defended well. As the season continues, it will get harder. We need to make sure that when we get to region games we are prepared to compete. We need to continue to work hard in practice."
Freshman goalkeeper Valeria Morales got the start in goal for SFCC.
"I'm really proud of the ladies," said head coach Michael Poropat. "It has been a long journey. The team spirit this year is fantastic. We're doing so well, and the girls have really bonded this year. I'm really proud of their resilience and how they approach every match. I'm really excited to see what they can do this year."
Sept. 13 Southeastern Community College West Burlington, Iowa
West Burlington, Iowa – SFCC (3-3) fell 3-1 to Southeastern Community College on Saturday, Sept. 13 in West Burlington, Iowa.
Southeastern scored three goals in the opening half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
SFCC responded in the 68th minute with a goal from sophomore defender Emily Ramirez.
Morales got the start in goal for SFCC.
