Sedalia, Mo.-The 17th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners rolled to a 111-38 victory over Haskell Indian Nations University Junior Varsity on Monday, Nov. 24 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center in Sedalia. The game was the third annual Field Trip Day, where the Lady Roadrunners play in front of a large group of elementary and high school students from surrounding school districts.
SFCC (10-0) stormed out to a 31-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
"I thought the energy in the gym was fantastic," said Lady Roadrunners head coach Nicole Collier. "The kids brought a lot of energy. It's easy to play in front of a crowd like that. We were able to see some different groups of players on the floor and see some different things as coaches. Overall, it was a fun afternoon with our community. The point of this is to get the community involved, but also for us to get better and continue to progress. We want to thank the community for coming out and supporting us."
SFCC had five players who scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Zoe Newland of St. Louis, Mo. and freshman guard Chloe Reed of Wentzville, Mo. tied for the team lead in scoring with 21 points each. Newland also pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds to finish her double-double. Newland also dished out a team-high five assists and led the team in steals with four.
