Lady Roadrunners continue winning ways
Hutchinson, Kan.- The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners basketball team stretched their winning streak to seven games with a 73-59 victory over Murray State College on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15 in Hutchinson, Kan.
Hutchinson, Kan.- The 20th ranked State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners basketball team stretched their winning streak to seven games with a 73-59 victory over Murray State College on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15 in Hutchinson, Kan. The game was part of the Hutch Women's Classic.
SFCC (7-0) outscored Murray State 19-13 in the first quarter. The Lady Roadrunners extended their advantage to 38-29 at halftime. SFCC pushed the advantage to 59-47 at the end of three quarters. The Lady Roadrunners made the plays down the stretch to secure the important victory.
SFCC used a balanced scoring attack in the contest. Sophomore forward Ellie Buscher posted her sixth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Buscher also tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two. Sophomore guard Zoe Newland contributed 15 points and a team-high three steals. Newland also tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two. Freshman guard Chloe Reed added 12 points and tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two. Sophomore guard/forward Carolyn Foster pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds and tied for team lead in blocked shots with two. Sophomore guard Sophia Edwin dished out a team-high six assists.
SFCC will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 19 with a game against North Arkansas College. Tipoff from the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
