Fayetteville, Ark - The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners women's cross country team had four individuals compete at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 4. The event took place on the University of Arkansas cross country course.
Freshman Maryn Clausing of Peculiar, Mo. recorded the best finish for SFCC. Clausing covered the 5K course in a time of 20:50.7 to finish 87th overall. Freshman Libbey Baadsgaard of Springfield, Mo. ran a time of 21:43.5 to finish 121st. Freshman Tajel McDaniel of Belle, Mo. posted a time of 22:18.6 to place 146th. Sophomore Alexis Riddle of Independence, Missouri clocked in with a time of 23:17.5 to finish 182nd.
"We didn't get to race as many women as I would have liked, but the ones who did compete raced exceptionally well," said co-head coach Kellin Loch. "It was a hot day, there were some slick spots on the course, and it was not the easiest terrain with hills and roots scattered throughout the course. Despite this, we saw a season best, and a big one, from Maryn Clausing and another lifetime best by Libbey Baadsgard. Tajel McDaniel proved her toughness, catching girls sprinting up hills and into the shoot at the finish line, earning her our "Athlete of the Meet" award. "
The Lady Roadrunners will return to action Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Simpson Invitational hosted by the University of Central Missouri at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
