Sabala leads Lady Roadrunners at Outdoor National Championships

Hobbs, N.M.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners track and field team had a pair of student-athletes compete at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by New Mexico Junior College on May 14 -16 in Hobbs, N.M.

Sophomore Izzy Sabala of Hermitage, Mo. finished 12^th in the javelin with a throw of 36.43 meters on Thursday, May 14.

"Izzy Sabala competed in the women's javelin," said assistant coach Kellin Loch. "She walked away placing 12^th. She also ended her season with a big PR at the national meet, a good way to go out."

On Saturday, freshman Callie McWilliams of Shelbina, Mo. finished 17^th in the triple jump with a jump of 11.78 meters.

"Callie McWilliams had a good showing at nationals as well," said Loch. "While the progress she made this season may not have been reflected by her best mark of the meet. She has had a big jump at the end that, I believe, was a strong jump and one to be proud about ending the season."
