Gonzalez chosen to lead women’s soccer program

Sedalia, Mo.- Jesus Gonzalez brings more than seven years of coaching experience to his position as the Head Coach of the Lady Roadrunners. He comes to SFCC from Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill., where he led both the men's and women's programs beginning in 2024.

"This job is super close to home for me," said Gonzalez. "I live in Kansas City and I was working six hours away at my last job. The new facilities will help a lot with recruiting, and it will help in the development of our student-athletes. I am super excited and happy to be here."

Gonzalez established a strong and sustainable culture that led to maintaining both programs concurrently for the first time in consecutive years. He designed and implemented periodized training plans, as well as individualized player development objectives aligned with team performance goals and long-term program success. He recruited and evaluated more than 44 student-athletes annually. He directed academic support initiatives to help student-athletes achieve their academic goals. Gonzalez coached more than 12 players who earned All-Academic honors, four players who transferred to NCAA Division I programs, six players who transferred to NCAA Division II programs, and 10 players who transferred to NAIA programs.

He led fundraising efforts for both programs through youth camps, community engagement activities, and program specific fundraising activities.

Gonzalez also spent time as a high school soccer coach in the state of Missouri for four years.

Gonzalez served as the Head Boys soccer coach at Kearney High School from 2023-2024. He planned and executed training sessions, match strategies, and development plans. He monitored academic progress for all the student-athletes. He also managed the program budget, equipment, and administrative responsibilities.

He was the Head Boys and Girls Soccer Coach at Maryville High School from 2020 to 2023. He directed all aspects of the soccer program including training, game management, and player development. He oversaw the academic progress of the student-athletes and supported the students' success while building a competitive program.

"We are very excited for the expansion of our soccer coaching staff," said SFCC Athletic Director Michele Rupard. "Welcoming Jesus to spearhead the women's program is a great step forward. This will help us in many ways on and off the field. He's knowledgeable about the game, is passionate about student-athletes, and is excited to be joining the SFCC family. He will be a great asset to both soccer programs, the athletic department, and the campus as a whole."

Gonzalez earned an Associate Degree in Coaching From Cloud County Community College he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Campbellsville University and an MBA from Northwest Missouri State University. Gonzalez has a USSF B License.
