The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners saw their season come to an end with a 73-58 loss to Crowder in the Region 16 Division I Women's Basketball Championship Tournament Quarterfinal Round in Neosho, Missouri on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Crowder led 22-14 at the end of one quarter and never looked back.
"This game went kind of the same way our season did," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "Give Crowder credit, their players want to go on and represent their college at the Region Tournament. This is the first year in my career here that we haven't been to the Region Tournament Semifinal Round. It was a disheartening game and it's been a disheartening year."
SFCC (7-18) was led in scoring by sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston of Rossville, Georgia with 15 points. Freshman forward Sahara Bamba of New York, New York contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Monique Esbrand of London, England also registered a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. She also dished out a team-high four assists in the game to go along with three steals.
