Lady Roadrunners fall to Crowder College
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) softball team lost a pair of Region 16 contests on Thursday, April 23 at Ron Ditzfeld Field.

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) softball team lost a pair of Region 16 contests on Thursday, April 23 at Ron Ditzfeld Field. In game one, SFCC fell 12-1 in six innings because of the run rule. SFCC (19-26) lost game two of the doubleheader 5-1.
In game one, Crowder broke open a close game with 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning. The SFCC offense had just five hits in the game. Freshman third baseman Morgan Marshall of St. Joseph recorded a double. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill also recorded a double. Sophomore utility player Jenna Herald of Monett, sophomore first baseman/outfielder Courtney Dehn of Dearborn, and freshman utility player Jaden Mauzey of Mendon all recorded one hit. Sophomore pitcher/ second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville scored the only run of the game for SFCC.
Clark got the start in the circle for SFCC. Clark pitched 5 2/3 innings, gave up 10 runs, (four earned runs) on 13 hits, struck out four, and walked one. Freshman pitcher Addison Wallace of Carthage pitched one-third of an inning and gave up two runs on two hits.
Backes added two more hits, including a home run, an RBI and a run scored. Herald contributed a double. Freshman utility player Shyanne Weibrecht of Perryville also recorded a double. Wallace and freshman catcher/ second baseman Grace Evans of Fulton had a hit each in the game.
Freshman pitcher Corinne Tuck of Braymer got the start in the circle for SFCC. Tuck pitched five innings, gave up five runs, four earned runs, struck out five, and walked two.
"We did not perform at the plate," said Lady Roadrunners head coach Michele Rupard. "Crowder is a good offensive team; we knew that they are going to score, and we knew we had to score. We just didn't do that. Once Crowder starts scoring runs, they keep adding them on."
SFCC will return to action on Saturday, April 25 in another Region 16 doubleheader against Missouri State University-West Plains. First pitch from Ron Ditzfeld Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
