Lady Roadrunners fall at Jefferson

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team lost a pair of Region 16 games to Jefferson College on Saturday, April 11 in Hillsboro, Mo.
SFCC (17-20) lost the first game 13-8. The Lady Roadrunners fell 8-0 in five innings because of the run rule.
In game one, freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill crushed a pair of home runs, drove in five runs, and scored twice to lead the SFCC offense. Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia also hit a home run and drove in a pair of runs. Freshman utility player Jaden Mauzey of Mendon contributed two hits and scored a run.
Freshman pitcher Addison Wallace of Carthage got the start in the circle for SFCC. Wallace pitched three innings, gave up four runs on six hits, and walked four. Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings and gave up nine runs on nine hits.
In game two, the SFCC offense was limited to walks from sophomore utility player Jenna Herald of Monett, Mauzey and freshman catcher Piper Costello of Lee's Summit.
Meyer got the start in the circle for SFCC. Meyer pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up four runs on four hits, struck out four, and walked two. Freshman pitcher Corinne Tuck of Braymer pitched two-thirds of an inning, gave up four runs on three hits, and walked two.
