Lady Roadrunners sweep Region 16 doubleheader
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team defeated Missouri State University-West Plains 6-2 in 14 innings in game one of a doubleheader and followed that up with a 10-7 win in game two on Wednesday, April 8 in West Plains, Mo.

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team defeated Missouri State University-West Plains 6-2 in 14 innings in game one of a doubleheader and followed that up with a 10-7 win in game two on Wednesday, April 8 in West Plains, Mo. The Lady Roadrunners are currently on a six-game winning streak.
in game one, the game was tied 2-2 going into the top of the 14th inning. SFCC (17-16) exploded for four runs to take the lead and closed out the game in the bottom of the inning.
Sophomore first baseman/outfielder Courtney Dehn of Dearborn led the SFCC offense with three hits including a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Freshman outfielder Madelyn Backes of Bonnots Mill had a pair of hits including a double and a run scored. Freshman third baseman Morgan Marshall of St. Joseph added a pair of hits and two runs scored. Freshman outfielder/utility player Jillian Reller of Elsberry chipped in with a pair of hits. Freshman utility player Jaden Mauzey of Mendon recorded a double and two RBIs.
As a team, SFCC put together 13 hits.
Sophomore pitcher/utility player Valerie Meyer of Houstonia got the start in the circle for SFCC. Meyer pitched four innings, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out five, and walked two. Sophomore pitcher/second baseman Elana Clark of Maysville came out of the bullpen for SFCC. Clark pitched 9 2/3 innings in relief, scattered six hits, struck out nine, and walked four to earn the victory in the circle.
In game two, Marshall added three more hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Sophomore third baseman/catcher Natalie Crumpler of Exeter had a home run and a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Meyer had a pair of hits and two runs scored. Freshman catcher Piper Costello of Lee's Summit had a pair of hits including a double and a run scored. Reller had a pair of hits, two RBIs, and a run scored. Mauzey contributed two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Freshman pitcher Addison Wallace of Carthage got the start in the circle for SFCC in game two. Wallace pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up six runs on nine hits, struck out three, and walked three. Freshman pitcher/ second baseman Grace Evans of Fulton pitched 2 1/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, struck out four, and walked one.
