Topeka, Kan.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners track and field team brought home an All-American honor from the NJCAA Indoor National Championships hosted by Washburn University on March 6-7 in Topeka, Kan.
Freshman Colby Jenkins of Brunswick, Mo. finished fourth in the heptathlon, scoring 4,631 points.
Sophomore Zeshaun Ballance-Gray of Kansas City, Mo. finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.75 meters.
"As always, our National Championships were competed at a very high level," said head coach Brad Hagedorn. "We had two ladies and two men qualify and were sitting outside the top eight in all four events. We rose to the occasion and performed above our season best in all areas. Each placed above their ranking coming into their events Colby was able to perform his way into an All-American position. Colby set career or season bests in five of the seven heptathlon events to earn fourth. As a coach, we always worry that we have prepared them well enough. I was very pleased to see we could do our best when it mattered the most. The athletes deserve all the credit in the world for how well they prepared and competed."
SFCC will return to action on Saturday, March 14 at Culver-Stockton College in the first meet of the outdoor season for SFCC.
