Roadrunners earn a split at Moberly Classic
Moberly, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners men’s basketball team fought back to earn an 88-84 victory over Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29 in Moberly, Mo.
Moberly, Mo.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners men's basketball team fought back to earn an 88-84 victory over Southwestern Illinois College on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29 in Moberly, Mo. The game featured three lead changes and five ties.
SFCC (9-5) trailed 36-33 halftime. The Roadrunners went on a run to take a 65-50 lead in the second half. Southwestern Illinois stormed back but, the Roadrunners made the plays in the final moments to secure the important victory.
Freshman guard Damian Dirden of Denver, Colo., and sophomore forward Daniel Garza of Hammond, Ind., tied for the team lead in scoring with 16 points each. Dirden led the team in steals with seven. Freshman wing JP Ndong of Germany/Senegal chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Freshman guard/wing Andin Ashford of Wilkesboro, N.C. added 11 points off the bench. Sophomore center Ibraheem Sylla of Denver, Colo. pitched in with 10 points. Sophomore forward Malick Ndiaye of Dallas, Texas pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds and led the team in assists with four. As a team, SFCC shot 27 of 32 from the free-throw line.
SFCC will return to action on Tuesday, Dec.2 with a game at Southeast Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
