Roadrunners fall in the opening round of the Moberly Classic

The game featured two lead changes and two ties.
Highland led the game 44-34 at halftime. Highland pushed the advantage to 65-47 in the second half. The 18-point advantage was largest lead held by either team in the contest. SFCC (8-5) fought their way back into the game, but the comeback attempt fell just short.
Sophomore forward Daniel Garza of Hammond, Ind. led the team in scoring with 15 points and a team-high four steals. Garza also tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two, along with freshman wing Da'Ron Hall of Nashville, Tenn., and sophomore wing Jai'Kori Phillps of Pine Bluff, Ark. Freshman wing JP Ndong of Germany/Senegal contributed a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Freshman guard/wing Andin Ashford of Wilkesboro, N.C. pitched in with 12 points and tied for the team lead with four assists with Garza. Sophomore guard Gavin Q Murphy of Calabasas, Calif. added 10 points.
SFCC will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 29 to close out their portion of the Moberly Classic with a game against Southwestern Illinois College in Moberly. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
