Roadrunners split with Illinois Central

East Peoria, Ill.-The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners baseball team split a doubleheader with Illinois Central College on Friday, April 10 in East Peoria, Illinois. SFCC (18-24) lost the first game 14-4 in five innings because of the run rule. The Roadrunners bounced back to win game two 11-4.

In game one, outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Mo. hit a home run, drove in a run, and scored twice. Freshman outfielder Drake Odneal of Smithville, Missouri added a double and a run scored. Outfielder Collin Ross of Branson, Mo., catcher Carter Rice of Sedalia, Missouri, infielder Connor Rice of Sedalia, Mo., and corner infielder Andrew Hill of Columbia, Mo. all also had one hit in the contest.

Pitcher Jacob Tellman of Jefferson City, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC. Tellman pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up nine runs (one earned run) on 10 hits, struck out two, and walked three.

SFCC made four errors in the game.

In game two, Hill had a double and a home run. Hill scored twice and drove in a run. Carter Rice contributed a double and four RBIs Connor Rice also recorded a double. Middle infielder Dayton Doll of Platte County, Mo. scored a pair of runs. Ross also scored twice. Middle infielder Christian Kuchta of Liberty, Mo. scored a pair of runs. Odneal drove in a pair of runs.

As a team, SFCC made the most of seven hits.

Pitcher Hunter Jones of Branson, Mo. got the start on the mound for SFCC in game two. Jones pitched five innings, gave up four runs (three earned runs), struck out two, and walked four.
